Nolan stood on the porch alongside a private auditor.
“You may keep any items purchased strictly with your personal funds,” Nolan informed them calmly. “Anything purchased using my corporate accounts or registered as company property stays here.”
The audit uncovered two of Elara’s custom diamond bracelets and a folder containing duplicate property deeds hidden inside Tessa’s luggage.
The items were confiscated on the spot.
Nolan handed Maribel a bank check covering three months of rent for a modest two-bedroom apartment in a neighboring town, along with a reasonable stipend for basic groceries.
“After ninety days, you find employment and support yourselves,” Nolan said.
Tessa glared at him with pure hatred. “Is this how you treat your own blood?”
Nolan looked her dead in the eye. “My blood is recovering in a hospital bed because of you.”
The iron security gates closed behind their taxi with a low, final rumble.

As the car pulled into the driveway, she unconsciously gripped Nolan’s forearm, her breathing turning shallow. “I don’t want to go up to that bedroom, Nolan.”
