Erika opened up about motherhood and family
In spite of the political headlines surrounding her life, Erika’s most emotional interview centered on something far more personal: the family she and Charlie dreamed of building together.
The couple shared two young children — a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
Erika shared that they had always planned to have a much larger family.
During a recent interview with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Channel, Erika reflected on how differently she now views motherhood and time.
“When I see young couples, I tell them please, don’t put it off,” she said.
“Especially if you’re a young woman.
“You can always have a career. You can always go back to work.
“You can never just go back to having children, and they grow so fast and so quickly.”
The comments sparked strong reactions on the internet, with supporters applauding her message about family while critics argued her comments placed unnecessary pressure on women.
However, Erika continued speaking candidly about the life she once imagined with Charlie.
According to her, the pair had long discussed expanding their family beyond two children.
“We were really excited to just expand our family,” she explained.
“We wanted to have four.”
The admission gave audiences a rare glimpse into the deeply personal grief Erika continues to carry months after losing her husband.
Friends and supporters have repeatedly noted how openly Erika has discussed the realities of widowhood, parenting, and trauma since Charlie’s death.
In previous interviews, she described the emotional unpredictability of grief and the difficulty of balancing heartbreak with raising small children.
