Victoria Silvstedt may not have had any films to promote at the Cannes Film Festival, but when the Mirror spoke with the 51-year-old at the legendary Hotel Du Cap in Antibes during a rare lull between high-end parties, she radiated all the presence of a true Hollywood star.
Gracious and charmingly modest about her eventful career as we settled in for coffee, the supermodel, Playmate, and Miss World contestant who rocketed to fame as a teenager gestured toward the window overlooking the sea, where sunlight transformed the water into a dazzling expanse of shimmering diamonds.
“How could you not love this?”, she smiles. “Cannes for me is the most glamorous event of the year. It’s the south of France, it is pure glamour. Walk a red carpet here, and you feel like the whole world is watching.”

Her entry into the limelight occurred when Silvstedt competed in the Miss Sweden beauty pageant, earning the right to represent her country in 1993 in Sun City, South Africa, where she ultimately finished in the Top 10. This comes as The View panel blamed Melania Trump for Donald falling asleep at meetings.
She was quickly signed by a leading modeling agency in Paris, and went on to work with some of the most prestigious fashion houses in the world, among them Chanel, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, and Valentino.
Yet the Swedish-born star, who serves as the face of anti-aging brand Nuegevia and an ambassador for both the Perfect World Foundation and Make A Wish Foundation, admits those early days were anything but simple. Notably, she briefly shared an apartment with fellow model and current America’s First Lady, Melania Trump – a Parisian chapter she recalls with genuine warmth, reports the Mirror US.
“We just stuck together. We were very, very supportive of each other. We’d actually stay home most of the time.”
She recalls, “Melania was very sweet, down to earth, but also so determined. She really wanted to make it. She has that very Slavic determination.
