Sitting in the corner.

“My Disney stuff.”
My throat tightened.
“You packed?”
She nodded.
“When?”
“Last week.”
“Who told you to?”
“Me.”
I stared.
“You packed yourself?”
“I thought I was going.”
“What happened?”
Her face fell.
“Mama said there wasn’t enough room.”
“In the car?”
“No.”
“At the hotel.”
I knew enough about Disney resorts to know that made little sense.
“What did Daddy say?”
“He said maybe next time.”
I sat on the bed.
Skyla opened the suitcase.
Inside were two dresses.
