I sighed.
I remembered why I was there.
Then I turned and faced David and my dad.
My ex-husband asked, “What’s wrong, babe?”
My dad stood next to me.
That’s when David’s expression shifted.
I placed the folder on the table in front of him.
“Start explaining.”
He hesitated, then picked it up. As he flipped through the pages, the color drained from his face.
For the first time since he showed up at my door, David didn’t have an answer.
“Start explaining.”
Since my ex-husband couldn’t explain the documentation, I just walked away.
That same day, I ended the marriage.
