Gordon made waffles for breakfast. Did he? With fresh strawberries and that maple syrup you like.
Zire’s eyes lit up. Have I mentioned that Gordon is my favorite person in this house?
I thought I was your favorite person. You’re not a person. You’re a force of nature.
He laced his fingers through hers. Come on, let’s eat before the waffles get cold.
They walked into the mansion together. The monster and the orphan who had somehow saved each other.
And Berlin finally understood the truth she had spent her whole life searching for. Family wasn’t about blood.
It wasn’t about where you came from or who gave you away. Family was about who showed up, who stayed, who fought for you when everyone else walked away.
By that definition, she had found exactly what she was looking for. She had found home.
And so, my beautiful people, that is the story of Berlin and Zire. But here’s what Berlin finally learned and what I want you to remember.
Your identity is not determined by where you came from. It’s determined by who you become.
Berlin never found her biological parents. Never learned why they gave her up. Never got the answers she spent her whole life seeking.
But she found something better. She found love. Real, fierce, consuming love with a man who saw past her lies and her pain and chose her anyway.
She found strength, the courage to stand up to her abusers, to fight for herself, to refuse to be a victim any longer.
She found home, not in a place or a bloodline, but in the arms of someone who made her feel seen.
And that, my friends, is the most powerful truth of all. You don’t need to know where you came from to know who you are.
You don’t need validation from the people who hurt you. You don’t need to be wanted by everyone.
